Within this context, the European Commission organized the EU Clusters Talk “Renewable Energies: How to accelerate technology uptake?” last week. In this talk, challenges and opportunities for the uptake of transformational technologies in the different renewable energy sectors were discussed.

In Europe Geothermal energy is actively being used in the mainland. A great example is the city of Paris that uses geothermal energy to heat the homes of more than 2 million people. Building on this success, a European Geothermal Alliance will be set up to research and advance the practical applications as part of the European energy transition.
In Flanders the infrastructure and transportation of energy is currently centralized around the harbors. To speed up the energy transition, a focus is being put on creating more decentralization. Upcoming heat networks will also be a big focus in this energy transition
